The Joomla module mod_bc_galleryview is an extremely flexible gallery-module which you can
use to create a single gallery very fast or even create a whole bunch of
galleries, each in it's own layout, styleable by themes using css.
The module reads images from a specified directory and displays them in the gallery-module. By simply adding a text file with alt/title-tag and/or image-description in all languages you like for every image you may define titles and alt-tags for the preview-images and/or create an overlay over the images to show your descriptions.
- The conception as Joomla-module enables you to use the "Modules Anywhere" Joomla-Plugin to embed a gallery in every content-element you like!
- In addition it is completely "Joom!Fish" compatible so you may even simply copy the module's parameters for another language and just define a different images-directory for every language if your images embed text.
If you have any questions, please feel free to send us your request using our contact form.
Please also contact us if you would have liked to buy this module but the feature you desperately need is missing. - Perhaps we are able to implement it fast and straightforward.
New in version 1.2: The Superview feature - Open a galleryview on click in fullscreen-mode!
Take a look at the documentation below our example gallery to read about the features, watch some example-galleries or read how to use it.
The gallery shown here shows the feature "Photoview" when you click on the image in the panel. If you also like to test our new feature
"Superview", click
here to also view our demo of the gallery with "Superview"-feature.
Here you see a little example gallery with photos of the great photo-artist "Flux".
(Move the mouse over the big picture to pause the slideshow or click on the big picture or the link in the picture's description to view the picture in the photoview-window which scales the image like you scale the photoview-window!)

- Languages for administration: English, German
flux-Photografie (The album-navigation on the right side does not belong to this module)
Installation is pretty easy: (If you like, we also have a screenshot driven tutorial for this item)
- Log into the Joomla administration and choose the menu-item "Extensions" -> "Install/Uninstall"
- Here click the Button "Search..." (May be different in different browsers) in the box "Upload Package File" and choose the received file in ZIP-format from your harddisk.
- Now click the button "Upload file & Install" and an example-module with the default preferences and the gallery-name "BC-Galleryview" will be installed.
- Create your gallery image-directories wherever you like accessible by the webserver. To do this, choose the menu items "Site" -> "Media Manager".
The default gallery's images directory is set up as "images/galleries/bc_galleryview" at a fresh install.
- Now go on with the help for "Basic usage"...
When we say "Basic usage", we mean publishing one gallery with images from one image-directory at a typical template position like "user1" or a position like that.
- Choose the menu items "Extensions" -> "Modules" and click the name of the desired mod_bc_galleryview module to edit it's preferences.
If you have a brand-new mod_bc_galleryview install this will be the module named "BC-Galleryview".
- First of all, give it a "Title" of your choice by setting the title on the left in the "Details" section.
- Then, select the "Position" where to display the gallery at your layout/template
(Attention: If you like to use the module directly included into content-elements using the "Modules Anywhere" module you should add a "hidden" position to your template's "templateDetails.xml" file and choose this position.)
- Don't forget to set the module to "Enabled" on the left in the "Details" section.
- Now set the "Gallery images path" at the "Module Parameters" Section on the right.
I prefer a galleries structure like this... images/galleries/secondlife/our-sim ...or, if I like to create tutorials with screenshots with text in a specific language, like this... images/tutorials/mod_bc_galleryview/installation
- Open the "media Manager" and create the directory-structure for your gallery-images like you entered it into the modules preferences field "Gallery images path".
- Upload some images into the directory you entered into the modules preferences field "Gallery
images path"
- Now take a look at the frontend of your website and you should see the module displayed at the defined position.
- If you like, you may go back to the module's preferences to try or adjust some values.
- Now you may go on with the help for "Advanced usage - Creating whole galleries"
You may enter a short title- and alt-text as well as a text which will displayed in an overlay over the big image for every image in every language you use for your website!
- Go to the "Media Manager" and select the folder with your gallery-images.
Change the view to "Detail View" so you mal read all the filenames of the images.
- Now open a text-editor of your choice, open a new file and make sure, the file will be saved in UTF-8!
- Now let's say, your first image is named as "image_001.jpg" then the textfile you are going to save will be named "image_001.txt".
- Let's also say, you like to describe your images in the languages "english" and "german".
- Let's write our first line in english:
en-GB:alt=My beautiful wife|description=This is a picture of my
beautiful wife
- And now let's add the german translation to the file as a new line:
de-DE:alt=Meine wunderschöne Frau|description=Dies ist ein Foto meiner wunderschönen Frau
- Now save the file with the name of the belonging image and .txt as suffix to your harddisk.
- Then upload the file into your gallery-images directory using the "Media Manager"
- Now take a look at the frontend of your website and
you should see the description of the image displayed on an overlay on
the big image. - If you have a multi-language website: Switch the language and see the image-descriptions translated.
Now that we've learned the basic usage of mod_bc_galleryview,let's go deeper and use the module embedded in any item using the "Modules Anywhere" plugin, one of the absolutely needed plugins for a Joomla installation.
- First of all, get the "Modules Anywhere" plugin, install it and enable it choosing "Extensions" -> "Plugin Manager" from the menu.
- Add "hidden" to your templates templateDetails.xml file.
- Create your gallery doing the steps described in "Basic Usage" but assign the module to the position "hidden"! - Activate your gallery-module!
- Use the "Modules Anywhere" button to include the gallery-module into any content item you like, for example in normal articles or in a tab in community-builder's user-page.
mod_bc_galleryview provides all the preferences for a galleryview that the jQuery module
galleryview-2.0 has, but easily set up in Joomla's module's preferences.
